WW-3 Wooden Wick (Soy Wax) – Medium Crackle
Intro: The WW-3 Medium Crackle wick measures 1/2″ wide and about 5″ in length, ideal for medium container candles (~2.5–3″ diameter). It produces a robust flame with a pleasing crackle – a step up in intensity suitable for mason jars and medium candle tins. Part of our Soy Wax series, WW-3 is engineered to maintain a strong flame in soy wax, which means reliable performance even in pure soy or other veggie wax blends.
-
Medium Flame & Crackle: Delivers a brighter flame and louder crackling sound compared to smaller wicks, enhancing the sensory experience of your candle. It’s noticeable and cozy, without being overwhelming.
-
Ideal for 3″ Containers: Sized for medium jars (such as medium mason jars or tumbler candles around 3″ wide), it helps achieve a full, even melt pool in these larger candles.
-
Excellent Scent Throw: The wide flame quickly warms and melts the wax, releasing fragrance evenly. Expect an improved hot throw as the melt pool forms faster.
-
Smooth, Clean Burn: Minimal char and soot – this wick burns cleanly when trimmed, with no mushrooming. It self-consumes evenly, leaving little debris in the wax.
-
Soy Wax Specialist: Designed for soy, coconut, and natural waxes that can be harder to burn, WW-3 wicks sustain a steady burn in these waxes (while also performing well in paraffin or blends).
Usage Instructions:
-
Place Wick in Clip: Center the WW-3 wick in the metal wick clip (sold separately) and press it firmly to the jar’s bottom using heat-proof adhesive. Ensure the 1/2″ wick stands upright and centered; the clip will keep it stable.
-
Pour Candle Wax: Carefully pour your melted wax into the container. The wooden wick’s rigidity means it will stay in place easily. Let the candle cool completely, with the wick vertical and centered.
-
Prep the Wick: Trim the wick to roughly 1/8″ tall above the wax before your first burn (and each subsequent burn). This small length is optimal for a controlled flame – a taller untrimmed wick may produce a flame that’s too high.
-
Burn and Enjoy: Light the wick at one end and allow it to draw across. You’ll hear the medium crackle as it burns. For best results, let the candle burn long enough to melt wax across the entire surface on each use. This ensures an even burn and great scent throw.
Bring your mid-sized candles to life with the WW-3 wooden wick – it offers a delightful crackle and steady flame, perfect for enhancing those cozy evenings.

Great wooden wicks
They worked great. I used them in joy wax and stayed lit and easy to relight. Burned very hot so need either smaller wick size or larger vessel.

doesnt stay lit

Changed review
I wrote a review before that was not as positive due to a batch being too thin, or burning out in candles for some reason. However, I've been ordering the product since, and they have been great. It must have just been that one little batch. I've used many of these wicks since and they have been great. My customers love the crackle and natural feel of the wood. I tried to change my previous review or delete it but I couldn't, so I am writing a 2nd positive review :) Thank you Bulk Apothecary...

Relaxing Sound and Easy to Use
The wood wicks are so simple to create with and the crackling wood sound to soft and relaxing.

good burn and fair crackle
These burn good and crackle well after burning a while. Not as loud as factory made wood wick candles but pretty good.

Love the crackle but some wicks won't stay lit
I am not sure if I got a bad batch of wood or what, but I have had a good handful of customers and a vendor that says the wicks keep going out, or they light for a few minutes then go out. The flame is not very bright at all and is almost unnoticeable at times. I like the crackle when it is lit but am worried about using more of what I bought (big order) and risking my reputation with the wicks going out. Help!

Nice crackling sound
This wick is untreated. It has a nice soft crackling sound. the wick keeps going out in some of my candles, once I relight it, the flame is not as big. you have to trim it.
