Borage Oil Borago officinalis - GLA Content 20%
Borage, commonly known as "starflower", is an annual flower that is part of the Boraginceae family. This beautiful blue flower is native to Southern Europe, though it has been naturalized in many other parts of the world. It has been used in traditional medicine and herbal treatment for hundreds of years. It is known to be one of the richest natural sources of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). It is also packed with other beneficial fats, fibers, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. Borage Oil is said to have anti inflammatory properties due to its high GLA content, and can be beneficial for skins conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne. It has emollient properties that can help keep your skin moisturized and promote elasticity. It is also used widely in dietary supplements due to its nutritional value.

I love this Borage Oil. I add it to my morning smoothie for its fatty acids, as well as, to my hair conditioner. I also combine it with coconut oil and or sesame seed oil for massage and to treat dry skin. Bulk Apothecary has excellent quality oils and prices. The only place I purchase my oils.
When I first opened the Borage Oil I was not happy with the smell or taste of it; it smelled like a meat/fish. Not a really strong smell but it was noticeable. However, I started to take the oil like a medicine, early morning (a spoon full of Borage helps the inflammation go down). The smell and taste go away quickly so it is a little easier to consume now. I would recommend getting this if you are vegan/vegetarian because of all the necessary fatty acids it has. It makes me feel good and alert! Borage oil has many benefits so make sure to do your research.
P.S. - DO not use it for your hair unless you want to smell like fish/meat all day. (I learned that the hard way)
Also, if you are considering it for massage use an essential oil that combines well with it for a better smell. It will be a great massage oil.
I make CP soap and this oil has been used for many, many years. Since I have mature skin, this oil is truly my friend. It is such an added bonus in my CP soap. Thank You for some truly wonderful and affordable products!
