WW-6 Wooden Wick – Medium Crackle

Clips Sold Separately

Intro: WW-6 Medium Crackle wicks measure 7/8″ wide by 6″ long, making them one of the widest flat wooden wicks available. They are intended for very large container candles (around 4″ in diameter or a bit more). The flame from a WW-6 is substantial and radiant, accompanied by a deep, soothing crackling sound. This size is excellent for candles in oversized jars, cylinder vessels, or large candle tins where maximum heat and melt are needed to reach the edges. It works with most wax types; however, with extremely high melt-point waxes or very wide vessels, you may want to test burn or even use a booster wick for optimal results.

  • Huge, Radiant Flame: WW-6 produces a wide, luminous flame that throws a lot of light – great for creating that wow factor in big candles. The crackle is correspondingly louder and more frequent, enhancing the candle’s sensory appeal.

  • For Extra-Large Containers: Best suited for containers roughly 4 to 4.5 inches across. It can handle those dimensions, helping to form a complete melt pool in very large candles. (If your container is closer to 5″, consider our largest wick or a booster combination for assistance.)

  • Even Burn in Big Candles: Designed to mitigate common large-candle issues like tunneling. The broad flame of WW-6 helps liquefy wax evenly across a wide surface area, ensuring your big candle burns uniformly.

  • All-Natural Wood: Like all our wooden wicks, WW-6 is made from natural wood and contains no lead or zinc – a healthier, more eco-friendly choice for large candles. The wood is sourced and crafted in the USA, reflecting quality in each wick.

  • Use in Many Waxes: Performs well in paraffin, soy, and blended waxes. In 100% soy or beeswax (which are harder to fuel), WW-6 will usually do the job, but always test burn because these waxes sometimes benefit from a booster wick for such a large diameter.

Usage Instructions:

  1. Securing the Wick: Fit the WW-6 wick (7/8″ wide) into the metal sustainer clip. Even though this wick is wide, our universal clip accommodates it. Center the clip on the bottom of your container and affix firmly with heat-proof adhesive. Because of the large diameter, accurate centering is critical for an even burn.

  2. Pouring Wax: Pour your melted wax carefully. The tall 6″ wick will stand upright on its own; you can use a wick bar to ensure it remains perfectly centered if desired. Allow the candle to cool and the wax to harden fully before moving.

  3. Trim to Height: Before the first lighting, trim the wick down to about 1/8″ – 3/16″ above the wax surface. This may mean cutting off a significant portion of the wick since it’s long – that’s okay. Starting with a shorter exposed wick prevents the flame from flaring too high initially. Always trim the charred part off before relighting subsequent burns as well.

  4. Monitor the Burn: Light the wick and watch that the flame remains controlled. It should be large but not smoking. In such a big candle, it may take a little time to fully melt to the edges – avoid extinguishing it too early. If you notice the flame struggling (especially in 100% soy or beeswax), you might need to use a booster wick next time for extra support. Conversely, if the flame is too high, trim the wick slightly and relight. Always practice fire safety, especially with the impressive flame of a WW-6 candle.

WW-6 wooden wicks empower you to create stunning, extra-large candles with the signature crackle and glow of natural wood. When ordinary wicks just won’t cut it for your biggest projects, WW-6 steps up to deliver a beautiful burn.

Unfortunately I didn’t catch that ithe wood wicks didn’t come with substainer clips like in the pictures; until after I received them. Never had that happen with another company so I’m a bit disappointed.

    terrible wicks

These are the worst wicks I've ever used! Can't keep them lit to save my life! Did a candle making project at work and had to bring everybody's candles home to re-wick them! Tried a wick from Michael's and has a beautiful burn! Wouldn't recommend these to anybody. Not only was it a waste of money but a huge waste of time fixing the candles now!
