(Sometime referred to as West Indian Sandalwod oil.)
Botanical Name: Amyris balsamifera
Plant Part: Seasoned wood
Method of Extraction: Steam
Origin: West Indies
Strength of Aroma: Soft, woody, warm and musty. Although commonly referred to as West Indian Sandalwood oil, this oil is not a true replacement for Sandalwood essential oil. Amyris oil is extracted from wood chip. Because of the sweet and smoky aroma of this oil it is used as a scent fixative in perfumes and in soaps.

I had never used this scent before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I wanted something with an earthy, woody scent, and this delivers. I love the warmth it adds! The only down side is that the oil is so viscous that is was practically impossible to get out of the dropper. I lost some oil as I tried to figure out the easiest way to get it out. I am looking forward to using it more!

nice oil but is NOTHING LIKE SANDALWOOD in any way shape or form. so if your looking for the sweet powdery dry wood sensual smell of sandalwood . ths is not for you.

Not as woody and sweeter than other Amyris oils I've used, but it still works nicely as a subtle and not overpowering woody scent.

I was very pleased with the oil and it's quality, unfortunately the bottle wasn't sealed well and the oil leaked out a bit. It arrived with many other bottles and the fact that it had been wrapped and shipped so well prevented any of the other bottles from contamination. Could have been far worse and accidents happen. Overall very happy

This oil has a scent of freshly chopped wood. It blends well and is very calming. I slept very well after experimenting with it.

I was looking for an EO to get the same end-notes as vanilla for my CP soap recipes. This will work great mixed with other EOs.

I have created a complex blend of therapeutic oils that has considerable analgesic properties, (I call it Oil of Ancients Ease). I have been making and using it for three years or more. Occasionally I experiment with new ingredients, and I must say that adding amyris to the blend has kicked my blend into the stratosphere. The aromatherapy effects are warmly enhanced, when heated, the combined scent is intoxicating. The analgesic properties are also improved, I use it for chronic pain and nausea relief. All in all, amyris has proved an economical and effective ingredient, and the quality of product from Bulk Apothecary is legendary!
