Why Is This Batch Off-Spec?
During production, a defective lot of potassium hydroxide (KOH) with reduced reactivity was used in the manufacturing process. As a result, the batch did not fully saponify as intended. This caused:
- An unsaponified layer to form on top of the product
- Slight color variation from our normal specification
- Product separation
Because of these issues, this batch is being sold as off-spec material at a 30% discount.
