How It Works in Formulations
Geogard® 221 combines the antimicrobial properties of Benzyl Alcohol with the antifungal activity of Dehydroacetic Acid. Together, they create a balanced preservative system that protects finished products from microbial contamination.
Because its effectiveness depends on pH, formulators should test and adjust the final product to remain within the recommended range. As with all preservative systems, microbial challenge testing is recommended for commercial products.
