This was the first time purchasing benzoin and it will definitely become a staple in my EO collection. It's a rich, sweet vanilla-like smell. The consistency is thick, but I just heated it up in a pan of water for a bit and had no trouble using it in my soap.

I bought this EO because a lot of the aromatherapy recipes I have call for it. I had no idea what it smelled like so it was such a wonderful surprise to open the bottle and have the wonderful vanilla scent waft out. I was a little taken aback by how thick it was as I was expecting an oil, not a molasses type consistency. I did use it in two of my air refreshers and they turned out great (used in combination with other EOs). I did some reading and there seems to be a lot of info on it being sensitizing to skin and causing allergies so I will probably use it in my products that do not come in direct contact with skin. Regardless of those properties, I love the smell and how I feel when I spray my refreshers in the house.

I'm about to craft my first perfumes and have drops of about ten base note oils on cut-up paper-towel squares. I bought benzoin because it supposedly acts as a perfume preservative. But the woodsy fragrance of this oil seems to last longer and remain captivating better than my other, more frequently used base oils. However, I'll only use one or two drops of it because I don't want the benzoin to overpower the other oils I'll use.

i love the smell of Benzoin. it is sweet scented but not overly. it has a very pleasant odor.
