The pomace version of olive oil is produced from the pulp leftover from the first pressing of olive oil. It is refined, slightly less “olive” scented, and has a clearer color than traditional olive oil. Olive Oil Pomace does work slightly differently than its origin. When used in cold process soap, for example, it produces a pure, white soap rather than a yellow one derived from Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and has a slightly accelerated trace. Its recommended uses are in soaps such as cold process facial bars and goats milk, shampoo, castile soap, and generally in natural soap making.
