Recipes to take your hair from DRAB to FAB!
Winter sure can do a number on your hair. From the dry heat inside your home to the brisk winds outdoors, your mane can take a beating this time of year. Dry, flat, lifeless locks appear unhealthy due to the lack of moisture, leaving you with the bad hair day blues.
But worry not- we’ve got a few recipes full of hydrating ingredients that will put the life back in those locks!
2 tsp Coconut Oil, melted
2 tsp Olive Oil
1 tsp Honey
Combine the ingredients and massage into dry hair. Cover and let soak 30 minutes (or longer). Rinse and follow with your favorite shampoo and conditioner. Repeat as needed (at least once a week during dry winter months for best results!).
Coconut Oil Mask
Massage coconut oil from root to tip (the amount used will depend on how much hair you have). The coconut oil will begin to melt with heat from your hands as you massage it into your hair, or you can melt a few scoops and work with the liquid form. Twist your hair into a bun and wrap with a warm towel. Allow the oil to soak into your hair for as long as possible (turn on the DVR and catch up on a few shows!). When ready, beat the egg with enough water to make a rinse (the egg will help to break up the oil). Rinse your hair first with water, then apply the egg mixture and work through the hair like a shampoo. Rinse again and follow with your conditioner.
Argan Oil Mask
Combine even parts of each oil in a bowl and beat together until well combined. Section off your hair and massage the mixture evenly into each section, fully saturating the strands. Twist into a bun or place hair in a braid. Leave the mixture on your hair for a few hours or overnight (the longer the better!). Rinse and follow with your favorite shampoo and conditioner.
Hot Oil Treatment
2 TBS Olive Oil
2 TBS Coconut Oil
1 TBS Honey
Combine the ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 15-20 seconds, or until the coconut oil and honey have melted. Stir well and massage into hair, focusing on the ends. Twist hair into a bun and cover with a shower cap or plastic wrap, then wrap with a warm towel. Leave the treatment on for at least 1 hour (again, the longer the better!). Rinse and follow with shampoo and conditioner.
6 TBS Distilled Water
6 TBS Aloe Vera
2 TBS Rose Water
1 TBS Argan Oil
5 Drops Tea Tree Oil
3 Drops Ylang Ylang
Combine all ingredients in a spray-top bottle and shake well. Use daily as a leave-in treatment after washing your hair. Spray mist liberally throughout your hair. Comb through and style as usual.
