Today I’m in the mood for something fun. Something a little sparkly. A little girlie, if you may. After the holidays are over I often find myself pouting just a little. The holiday season is filled with so much glitz and glam. Everything is sparkly and shiny and twinkling! Everywhere you look everyday items have been amplified to a brighter, prettier version and it’s just beautiful. So when it’s time to take it all down, things just stop feeling special for a few days. The house feels a little empty. My wardrobe feels a little dull. And I feel a little..blah.
Yep, today I have a case of the after holiday blues and I need a pick-me-up. Stat.
So after a little internet perusing, I stumbled upon this recipe via Rebecca’s Soap Delicatessen. It’s just what I needed. A little sparkle. A little shimmer. A little gloss. Eeek!! I was so excited to gather up my supplies and get started that the empty corner of my living room where my Christmas Tree once stood (looking sad and empty) didn’t even hinder the pep in my step.
Here’s the recipe I adapted:
1/4 oz. Cocoa Butter
1/4 oz. Mango Butter
1/4 oz. Shea Butter
2 TBS Beeswax Pellets
Pinch of Crimson Sparkle Mica Powder
In a microwave safe bowl, measure out the cocoa butter, mango butter, shea butter, and beeswax. In 30 second increments, melt the ingredients together, stirring in between pulses. Once the mixture in completely melted, remove from the microwave and stir in the mango flavor oil. Lastly, add in the sparkle mica powder, using just a pinch at first (you can add more to it if you want to) and stirring to completely incorporate you’re your mixture.
Using a pipette, transfer the liquid lip balm mixture into the lip tins. If the lip balm has started to solidify, just pop in back in the microwave for a few seconds and continue filling your tins.
That’s it! This tinted, shimmery gloss is perfect by itself and even prettier layered over your favorite lipstick. It’s an easy was to add a little sparkle to your day!
