Recipe: Crock-Pot Air Freshener
Here’s the scene: You slaved over your stove all day long to make a delicious dinner for your family to enjoy (which they totally did), but your home still smells like that fabulous dinner the next day. And maybe the scent is even lingering the day after that (if you’re like me, you probably overdosed on the garlic).
A day or two later that smell is not so appetizing is it? Umm, not so much. Did you light a candle? Spray some room freshener around? Still not eliminating the odor, huh? (Oh- don’t forget to check the garbage! Scraps of ingredients can contribute to the smell of dinner)
Just can’t shake that smell? No worries. I’ve got it covered.
Here’s a simple solution that you most likely have all of the ingredients for sitting right in your kitchen (I LOVE when that happens!).
Break out that crock pot and let it simmer away alllll day long. Your home will be smelling incredible in no time (without the reminder of what you had for dinner the other night).
The baking soda will work to neutralize existing odors while the lemon, cinnamon, and vanilla blend beautifully to fill your house with a crisp, sweet fragrance.
Easy Crock Pot Air Freshener
5 cups Water
5 heaping teaspoons Baking Soda/Sodium Bicarbonate (one for each cup of water)
3 Cinnamon Sticks
1-2 Lemons, sliced
Several drops Vanilla Essential Oil (or 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract)
Several drops Lemon Essential Oil
Place all ingredients in your crock pot and set on low. Leaving the lid off, allow the mixture to warm all day long, absorbing unwanted odors and replacing them with sweet nodes of lemon, vanilla, and cinnamon.
It’s a quick, easy way to freshen your home without even thinking about it!
