Recipe: Acne Control Night Cream

After making the Clear Face Cleansing Bar the other day, I needed a cream to accompany it. For me, I usually do a heavier cream at night before bed, and a lighter moisturizer with SPF in it for daytime use. Thick, heavy creams also don’t compliment makeup well as they tend to leave skin heavily hydrated, making the face and makeup look shiny all day (yuck).

Since this cream is meant to go with the acne control cleanser, a night cream was the best fit. After cleansing the skin before bed, applying a thick cream with acne fighting ingredients allows the skin to soak it up all night long while you sleep, giving the acne fighting ingredients plenty of time to work their magic!

With only three ingredients, it really is simple to whip up your own face cream and by using natural ingredients you?ll feel good about applying it on your skin.

For a cream that works to keep breakouts at bay while also moisturizing and nourishing the skin, I used these three ingredients:

Unscented Body Butter/Heave Cream Base

Vitamin E Oil

Tea Tree Oil

That’s it! Simple is always the best formula when it comes to skin.

The heavy cream base is wonderfully thick and luxurious. The texture glides over the skin and hydrates to the max. Perfect for balancing out the acne fighting portion of this mixture. For that we turn to Tea Tree Oil. As I mention in the post for the Clear Face Cleansing Bar, tea tree oil is AHH-MAZING for clearing out current blemishes and keeping new ones from forming. You might recognize the fragrance of this oil because it’s a widely used ingredient in blemish control products.

Oh- and let’s not forget the vitamin E. I love vitamin E in anything that will be touching my skin. I add it to soaps, body washes, creams, you name it. Vitamin E softens skin and works to fade and diminish the appearance of scars- which for many people with serious acne, can be a problem.

These ingredients together are a perfect combination for my acne control night cream.

Start by adding 1 teaspoon of Vitamin E oil to 3 tablespoons of the heavy cream base (we’re just making a small batch today- I’m not sharing 🙂

Then add 1 teaspoon of Tea Tree Oil.

Using an electric hand mixer, beat the three ingredients together until well blended.

It will look like this! No trace of separate ingredients- everything is well incorporated.

And that’s it! You’re done! Easy peasy, right?

Scoop the finished mixture into a lidded jar or container and use at night, after cleansing your face. Apply a small amount and massage into the face and neck.

Don’t forget to label it! Any products you make should always look their best! Just because it’s homemade doesn’t mean it shouldn’t look pretty 🙂

Pair your cream with the clear face cleansing bar and you’ll be on your way to clear skin in no time! Both products are so easy to make and since they use the same main ingredients, you’ll really save costs!

How perfect is that?!

  1. I am trying to find the recipe for the clear face cleansing bar but am unable to locate it. Can you please message me with it. My son is having really bad acne and needs something, We have tried everything else and it is not working.

  2. Just a heads up, this heavy cream base’s second ingredient is mineral oil. I and a couple friends of mine, skin reacts very badly to mineral oil (breakouts) it tends to clog pores if you have that kind of skin. I would recommend another base that has all natural ingredients for me and the like.
