1st Place In Our Recipe Contest- Chocolate Ice Cream Bath Truffles

This recipe was sent in by Deb Walters and won 1st place in our Recipe Contest.

Ingredients:

2 oz. Cocoa Butter

1 oz. Shea Butter

1 1/4 cups Baking Soda (aka Sodium Bicarbonate)

3/4 cup Citric Acid

5 TBSP Cocoa Powder

1 oz. Essential Oil 

 

Tools:

Parchment Paper

Rubber Gloves, disposable

Mask (if you are sensitive to airborne powders)

Heat-safe Bowl

Sieve

Large Mixing Bowl

Ice Cream Scoop

 

Directions:

Melt butters and set aside.

In a mixing bowl, gently sift together dry ingredients (including the cocoa).

Add essential oils of your choice to melted butters.

Add melted butters to powdered mixture and mix well.

Working quickly, scoop mixture with ice cream scoop and place on parchment.

Let dry until firm.

  2. 1 ounce of essential oil sounds like an awful lot to me for such a small batch of truffles!! Are you sure this is correct? That is 2 full 15ml bottles of therapeutic essential oil, WOW!

  3. How many does this make? To use that much oil these would be very expensive. Is there a substitute? Is that much required for texture or just scent?
